Arne Schirmer – a versatile student with clear goals

Born in Brandenburg an der Havel, Arne Schirmer found his way into the world of technology and science. After completing his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Rostock, where he worked in the field of implant technology, among others, he has been studying mechanical engineering for lightweight construction and structural mechanics for two semesters Since November, he has been supported by GICON® with a Deutschlandstipendium.

In addition to his studies, he works as a research assistant at the Chair of Lightweight Construction, which gives him the opportunity to combine theory and practice. He is currently still unsure ‘where his career will take him.’ Schirmer would first like to gain further international experience through a stay abroad.

Motivation and commitment

As a dedicated student, Arne was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium during a ceremony. The scholarship was presented by the rector of the University of Rostock, Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Prommer. For him, it is not only a recognition of his achievements, but also a welcome financial support that makes it easier for him to focus on his studies. With GICON® as a sponsor, he is also associated with a company that is a point of contact for him as he continues his studies

‘For us as a company, the development of highly qualified professionals is a top priority. Therefore, it is natural for us to support programmes such as the Deutschlandstipendium. We are pleased to be able to accompany a committed student such as Mr Schirmer on his way to achieving his academic goals,’ said GICON® CEO Prof. Großmann, summarising the commitment. In addition to supporting students at the University of Rostock, GICON® also assists students at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the TU Dresden.
