GICON® Group takes over plant and permit planning as well as ecological investigations for a floating LNG terminal in Hamburg
The GICON® Group has been awarded the contract for plant and permit planning as well as ecological investigations for a floating LNG terminal to be constructed in Hamburg. The group is thus actively involved in the new energy policy of the Federal Republic of Germany. With this contract, GICON® receives the first major order in the LNG sector in Germany and establishes itself as a full-range supplier in this field as well.
Background
In the coming months, Germany intends to replace imports of Russian gas with gas imports from other countries. Several floating liquefied natural gas terminals have been chartered for this purpose. The floating liquefied natural gas terminals are expected to operate for three years, while fixed terminals will be built in parallel to replace the mobile facilities. Under the current contract with Hamburger Energiewerke, one of the new LNG terminals is to be established at the former coal-fired power plant site in Hamburg-Moorburg. Around 150,000 m³ of liquefied natural gas could be delivered there. The facility will receive these deliveries and prepare the gas for injection into the German gas grid.
GICON® becomes interdisciplinary active
GICON® was commissioned with the complete plant and permit planning. In addition to the application documents for the required permits, all necessary expert opinions such as immission forecasts, safety reports, explosion ptotection assessments and documents for the general preliminary assessment of the individual case according to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act are to be prepared. Furthermore, the permitting process is to be accompanied by GICON®. As a basis for the permit planning, GICON® was also commissioned with the plant planning. GICON® will be taking over all planning phases from the basic evaluation to the design and permit planning.
In addition to GICON® Grossmann Ingenieur Consult GmbH (GICON® Consult), IfAÖ GmbH is also involved in the project. Here, initial onshore as well as offshore ecological investigations were commissioned. Furthermore, IfAÖ will prepare the documents for the case-by-case assessment according to Environmental Impact Assessment Act.
GICON® was able to convince the client by the almost unique ability in Germany to provide all of the above-mentioned services from one source. Our way of establishing ourselves as a full-service provider has thus proven itself once again.
