For over ten years of research, we have developed the GICON® trickle bed process, a technology that is already making a difference in the utilisation of renewable energies. With long-term energy storage, heat extraction and CO2 utilisation, methanisation is an important building block for a sustainable energy transition.
Green methane: using energy from renewable electricity
With the increasing expansion of supply from renewable energy sources such as wind and PV, the demand for energy storage and distribution is also increasing. By using this unusable electricity to produce hydrogen electrolytically, the central building block of biological methanation, ‘green methane’, can be obtained, which can already be used in the existing natural gas infrastructure and fuel sector.
